LACTES'CENCE, n. [L. lactescens, lactescp, from lacto; lac, milk.]
1. Tendency to milk; milkiness or milky color.
2. In botany, milkiness; the liquor which flows abundantly from a plant, when wounded; commonly white, but sometimes yellow or red.
